Rural Manitoba Economic Development Corporation (RMED) congratulates board chair Chuck Davidson on his appointment as President and CEO of Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism, effective Sept. 8.
Chuck brings more than a decade of provincewide leadership experience as president and CEO of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, working with businesses, communities, local chambers, Indigenous partners, industry leaders and governments across Manitoba. He has also served as chair of RMED’s board of directors since the organization’s inception in 2019, providing leadership and supporting RMED’s work to advance economic development across rural Manitoba.
Chuck’s appointment comes as the Manitoba government, and City of Winnipeg announced an expanded mandate for Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism to lead the development of a provincewide economic development agency.
The new direction is intended to create a more coordinated approach to investment attraction, business development and economic growth across Manitoba, bringing together economic development organizations and partners to explore opportunities for greater collaboration and integration.
Chuck has a strong understanding of Manitoba’s business and economic development community, and the important role rural communities play in our provincial economy,” said Margot Cathcart, CEO of RMED.
Through his leadership with RMED, he has seen firsthand the strengths and opportunities that exist across rural Manitoba. We congratulate him on this appointment and look forward to continuing to work together. Chuck will continue to serve as chair of RMED’s board of directors at this time while taking on his new leadership responsibilities.
For RMED, greater collaboration across Manitoba’s economic development community presents an opportunity to strengthen connections between rural communities, businesses, investors and partners across the province.
“Rural Manitoba has significant economic strengths, expertise and opportunities to contribute to Manitoba’s growth,” Cathcart said.
We welcome an approach that brings organizations and partners together to share their knowledge and experience. RMED remains focused on supporting rural communities and strengthening the connections that help turn local opportunities into economic growth. RMED will continue its work with rural communities, economic development leaders, Indigenous communities and organizations, businesses and partners across rural Manitoba.
As Manitoba’s economic development approach evolves, RMED welcomes greater collaboration across the province, stronger connections that support communities, businesses and investment, and the opportunity to contribute to the development of a provincial approach.
