Webinar Series | Community‑Led Economic Development in Action: Vermillion Growers & Northgate Trails
Join the Rural Manitoba Economic Development Corporation (RMED) for a practical case study webinar exploring two community‑led economic development initiatives that are driving long‑term impact in Dauphin, Manitoba.
This session will feature RMED Economic Development Advisors Eric Forster and Devin Shtykalo, who will walk participants through the Vermillion Growers and Northgate Trails case studies—highlighting how local vision, strategic partnerships, and thoughtful planning translated into tangible economic outcomes. Case Study – RMED
The Northgate Trails case study demonstrates how a multi‑use trail system helped transform Dauphin into a year‑round recreation and tourism destination. Participants will learn how community engagement, collaboration, and long‑term planning supported the development of a 26‑kilometre trail network that contributes to economic activity, outdoor culture, and community well‑being.
The Vermillion Growers case study examines the development of a large‑scale, year‑round greenhouse that is strengthening local food production and supporting economic diversification. This innovative project addresses food security, creates employment opportunities, reduces reliance on imported produce, and offers a replicable model for other rural communities.
Through this webinar, attendees will gain practical insights into:
- Turning local challenges into economic development opportunities
- Leveraging partnerships to advance community‑driven projects
- Identifying strategies that can be adapted and applied in other rural and northern communities
This session is ideal for economic development officers, municipal leaders, planners, and community partners seeking real‑world examples of successful rural economic development in action.
